Before 100 Days

You have to know where you've been to know where you're going....

I must admit the past 3 months I've felt like I've let my life slip away from me. I haven't been motivated to do pretty much anything. I was in better shape and eating better 6 months after having my baby than I am now when he is 13 months old. It's time to get disciplined again and find my inner motivation.

I owe all the credit to 100 Days of Real Food for giving me the idea and getting me started. I've been wanting to change the way my family is eating but I just couldn't get started. "I will start eating well again on Monday" is what I would say to myself every week. Then Tuesday I would eat 4 cookies and feel like a failure...and they weren't even good! I was letting mindless eating carry me away.

So over the weekend I decided it was time to make a change. I am reading on YouVersion a Joyce Meyer Daily Devotional plan and Saturday her devotion was about praying for God to help you be disciplined. So I prayed, went into my kitchen, and began tossing out all the crud that was filling my body.

I spent 4 hours throwing out anything that is full of added sweeteners, artificial sweeteners, refined carbs/sugars, and most things highly processed. I did have to keep a few things, though, because my husband just couldn't part from them. Such as ketchup, grape jelly, and ranch dressing (however, I will be finding alternative ways to make these healthier over the next 100 days).

Here's our pantry now -

There is still things that need to be tweaked with our foods but I will find healthier ways to make these or buy these over the next 100 days. For example, homemade bread, ice cream, coffee creamer, desserts, etc. We are also on a tight grocery budget so we won't be able to buy locally-raised meat for our meals. We will, though, be more conscious of the meat we buy and what type it is.

I must admit, I was really sad to throw this away (my husband was DEVASTATED) -

I can't believe we had all this JUNK in our house!!!

I ordered a new cookbook that will spark some new ideas for meals to cook. I'm very excited to use it and also follow the meal plans by Deliciously Organic.

Time to get busy changing my life!
