Why I Run

I am so glad to have a place to share my crazy running hobby (or addiction as Ryan would say). I've been running since 2007. I never used to be a runner or even like to run at all. Towards the end of college, I found myself getting on the treadmill before a workout just to get a half mile of a "run" in. I was very proud of that half mile!

4 years later I've ran dozens of 5k's and 10k's, 15 half marathons, and 5 full marathons. My last marathon being exactly 10 months after having my first baby. I guess I am a little addicted! The greatest feeling isn't that I win first place (because I don't ever) but that I accomplish whatever goal I set out for myself. Whether it's getting a new PR, running without stopping to walk, not getting an injury, or just finishing...I have a different goal each time.

I absolutely love running not because it keeps me in good shape and lets me eat whatever I want (well, those things are true, too). I run because God gave me legs so I can run. Running is my quiet time with myself and with God. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I listen to the birds, and sometimes I just listen to God. I guess you can say that running is my "sanctuary time".
